Why the Laundry Can't Wait

Laundry. Dishes. Tidying. Cleaning.

Household management is one of the biggest stressors amongst moms and a large contributing factor to the mental load that most, if not all, mothers carry.

It seems as if there is always something to clean or clothes to put away. It can be a trigger in arguments between husbands and wives. It can be a cause of resentment and bitterness if a mom (or a dad) feels like they have to take on the entire responsibility themselves.

As the mental load on mothers continues to take its toll and the online mommy-culture continues to grow, a negative portrayal of homemaking has become the norm.

Now, women that love homemaking are, “dreaming too small,” and career-women who are moms have an attitude that they don't have time to be bothered with managing a home. Moms that seemingly, “have it all together,” are deemed as Sharon’s and Karen’s and are accused of being fake, because apparently “hot mess” moms are the only accepted norm.

Another emotion that is often tied to homemaking is the guilt of taking time away from the kids to get those tasks done - especially in the little years. Many quotes and blog posts circle the internet and social media circles that talk about letting go of the pressure to fold the laundry because the “kids are only little once” and “you don’t want to miss this time.” In my opinion, this just plays with the emotions of a young mom and makes her feel more unnecessary guilt as she sits there torn between holding her baby and folding the laundry.

Why can’t you be a homemaker AND a good mom?

Newsflash: you can be both.

In fact, when you are both, that makes you the best mom who not only loves your kids, but delights in providing for them and cultivating a home that makes them feel secure.

In this episode of the Mission Motherhood Podcast, we dive deep into these negative homemaking ideologies and apply God’s truth to them. We then equip you to begin delighting in homemaking as you are called to as a woman of God (without the overwhelm.)

When God calls us to the mission of motherhood, homemaking comes as a part of that mission. An important part. A GOOD part. A joyful part.

Tune into this powerful and impactful episode to be empowered to change your heart posture toward homemaking and equipped to make joyful homemaking a part of your life without the burden or the overwhelm.
